EDEN EXHIBITION INTERVIEW

Inspired by animation, play of color, flora and fauna, Ethel Dalida’s visual images are whimsically enchanting. Using acrylic and unconventional mediums like make-up, nail polish and thread, she explores themes of what it means to be a first generation Filipino-Canadian in western society.

Ethel graduated with honours from the University of Calgary’s BFA Program, received the 2010 art-a-thon Merit Award from Cardel Homes, and has exhibited throughout Calgary including the Nickle and Contemporary Galleries.

Eden is a collection of work from past and current years – an ode to a next chapter in life as she continues to mature her practice. Each painting comes with a story unique to the artist but she hopes anyone can take their own personal experience to narrate and celebrate coming of age.
